We just finished the month of June. A month that has now become known in this country as “Pride Month”. A month to celebrate pride in the acts and lifestyle that God condemns in
His word…acts that break His heart. All of this is done under the guise of “love” and “freedom”
I talk more about this subject in my previous article, Taking Back the Rainbow.
This year, I propose something new. A new pride month: the month of July.
Our Heritage
“America need never be ashamed to tell her birth, nor relate the stages by which she rose to empire.” – Thomas Paine, The American Crisis
America has a story unlike any other. The tale of her birth is one you will not find among the histories of any of the nations of the world, past or present.
In this day and age we are seeing Americans begin to hate their country. In schools, students (of all ages) are made to believe that we are a wicked nation and we should despise our heritage. But they are not taught the true story.
They are not taught of the fight for freedom against tyranny.
They are not taught of the courage, faith and perseverance of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John and Samuel Adams, Joseph Warren, James Otis, and so many others.
They are not taught that, against all odds, the ragtag army of colonists claimed victory over the greatest military force of the time.
They are not told that our founding fathers fought for THEM when they established this country. So that future generations might live in a land that is free from tyranny and oppression and all who seek liberty my find it here.
They are not told how these men fought for the abolition of slavery. How Thomas Jefferson grieved for this country and her people as long as it lasted. Or how much John Quincy Adams sacrificed and fought to bring it to an end.
They are not told that these men gathered together and prayed daily for God’s guidance in creating a government of the people, by the people and FOR the people that would bring glory to Him and would be a light to the world for as long as the nations of the world would endure.
Why are they not taught these things? Because of the fear that, if they knew the truth, this generation would be PROUD of their country and their history. Because a generation that is proud of their country and embolden by the acts of those who have come before them will be less likely to allow certain changes and more eager to follow their examples and fight against tyranny and evil men who would trample their own people in their thirst for power.
The First Step for Life
On June 27th, this country took the first step on a long journey to right an abominable wrong started many years ago; a wrong that has caused our streets to run red with blood: Roe v Wade was overturned.
I can’t think of a better way to end the so called “pride’ month!
But, friends, the fight is long from over. We have just taken the first small step…now it is time to pick up speed and get to the running point! Just as the fight to end slavery had to start somewhere, and the progress was often times only inch by inch, so the fight to end the slaughter of the unborn children must progress. Now is the time to raise our voices louder and fight all the harder in our states.
Conclusion
Why do I think July should be our TRUE pride month?
We begin July with the celebration of our nation’s birth…throughout the month:
- July 2nd, 1776 – Congress voted to approve a complete separation from Great Britain
- July 4th, 1776 – The early draft of the Declaration was signed by John Hancock and Charles Thompson
- July 8th, 1776 – The Declaration was read by members of Congress on the steps of Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell was rung
And this year we have a new celebration to be proud of! A day that will be remembered in history (I pray) as long as God grants life to this country!
What better time to spend in proud proclamation of what God has done for this country…and what He is about to do!
So as the skies explode with colored lights tonight, let us all, from the heart, say, “I am PROUD to be an American!”
“This day will be the most memorable epic in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.”
-John Adams, in a letter to his wife, Abigail, the day after the Declaration was approved
