The Trump Card – Why I Choose to Support Our President

This is going to be a pretty touchy post for many of you, family and friends included. But just hear me out. You are welcome to disagree with me, you are welcome to believe what you want. So am I. And these are the conclusions and beliefs I have come to after years of history lessons, observations, research, prayer and thought…and four years of living life with my eyes wide open.

I do not claim to know everything there is to know about every subject in politics or the country, I do not claim to have all the answers or to have everything perfect…but I do claim to know enough to make these statements, come to my OWN conclusions and belief, and to be confident in the truth of my knowledge and facts. In our country we are allowed, and have the right, to disagree with someone else. We are encouraged to search out the truth and find out for ourselves what we truly believe, not what others want us to believe. We have a right to share our beliefs and speak our opinions to others, but that does not mean we are both correct or that we have the right to tell others they must believe what we do.

This article is not one of finger pointing, telling everyone I’m right and you’re wrong, or that you have to listen and feel the same way that I do. No, this is an article of facts I have gathered over the last four years and the reasons why I support our president. The conclusion is for you to come to yourself.

Allow me to take you on a short journey through time. Go back with me, if you will, to the year 2016. We were facing a big election, there was division among parties and people, especially Christians, were torn about what to do at the polls on the big day.

I was one of them. Back in 2016 I wasn’t a fan of Donald Trump. His loud mouth and lack of diplomacy irritated me. I knew very little about him and a lot of the things he did and the way he spoke rubbed me the wrong way. I also didn’t take much stock in the promises he made because, even at a young age, I have heard it all before from candidates. I wasn’t sure I was going to like him, much less that he would come near one of my favorite presidents. But I knew the alternative…and it was not good at all. In fact, it was evil. And I could not, in good conscience, let my choices or personal opinions allow that to happen.

Fast forward to 2020. Here we are again in an election year! This time I back President Trump all the way. And here is why:

I have heard many Christians blame others for voting for and supporting President Trump. They ask how any Christian could vote for someone so horrible and immoral. I have to ask, what actions are you looking at and calling immoral? Are they any of these?

On Issues of Religion

– On May 4, 2017, the President signed an executive order to greatly enhance religious freedom and freedom of speech, taking action to ensure that religious institutions may freely exercise their First Amendment right to support and advocate for candidates and causes in line with their values; and ensuring that religious Americans and their organizations would not be forced to choose between violating their religious beliefs by complying with Obamacare’s mandate or shutting their doors.

– The President announced a reversal of the Obama administration’s policy denying disaster aid to houses of worship, allowing houses of worship to receive crucial aid in times of crisis.

– President Trump has issued new policies to ensure religious freedom is a priority throughout the Federal Government, protecting Americans who have religious or moral convictions related to certain health care services. President Trump REVERSED an act by the Obama administration that prevented doctors from refusing to perform transgender procedures due to their conscience or religious faith.

Middle East Peace

– He moved the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, the capital city of Israel.

– He brokered THREE historic peace deals in the Middle East.

On Issues of Abortion

President Trump has stopped the attack on pro-life policies.

– President Trump signed H.J. Res. 43 into law, overturning a midnight regulation by the Obama Administration, which prohibited States from defunding certain abortion facilities in their Federally funded family planning programs.

– He expressed strong support for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would have stopped late-term abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy—the point at which science tells us that an unborn child can experience pain.

– President Trump’s Administration issued guidance to enforce the requirement that taxpayer dollars not support abortion coverage in Obamacare exchange plans.

– He rescinded an Obama-era policy that hindered States in their efforts to direct Medicaid funding away from abortion facilities that violate the law or fail to meet relevant standards of care.

– On January 19, 2018, President Trump became the first President to address the March for Life rally live via satellite.

– Vice President Mike Pence addressed the March for Life in 2017, becoming the first sitting Vice President to do so in person.

On Issues of the Economy

– We have experienced the lowest unemployment rate in history. Black unemployment rate, womens unemployment rate, Hispanic unemployment rate.

– 6 million people are off government funding and are self-sustainable.

– President Trump is putting Americans first by fighting for jobs for them instead of handing them out to illegal immigrants.

– He instituted the biggest tax cuts and reforms in history.

– The Obamacare individual mandate penalty is GONE.

These are just a few of the things President Trump has done over the past four years. Most of these things I heard him back in 2016 say he was going to do. He was the first president I have ever seen accomplish these things and fight so hard for the American people and its Constitution.

True, Donald Trump is not perfect, but NO ONE on this earth is. We are not out to elect a pastor, but a president. Our choices are all sinful people, I’m sorry to say. Hopelessly flawed. By the same definition I hear people call President Trump immoral, so was King David. He lied, committed adultery and murder, yet he was considered one of the greatest kings in history and a man after God’s own heart.

The Great Divide

Many say President Trump is dividing us. The democrats are calling for unity in America and you applaud that. It would be wonderful for us as a country to be united. We are stronger together… But I challenge you to ask yourself and answer these questions:

1. Who is separating us by color, stating this person is black, this person is white?

2. Who is telling the black population that they can’t do something and are secondary to others?

3. Who is inciting riots and mob order against those who disagree with them?

4. Who is condoning and starting acts of violence and hatred against others, attacking and beating those on the other side of the political fence?

5. Who is tearing down and vandalizing statues and monuments to the freedom, liberty and unity of this country?

6. Who is encouraging division by telling people to turn in their neighbors and friends if they don’t comply with the government?

7. Who is telling us to be afraid of people who don’t wear masks, and to hate them and call them selfish and ignorant?

Whichever way you decide to answer these questions is up to you. But I guarantee you…no matter which side of the political fence you fall on, if you observe what has happened just THIS YEAR, you will not find the answer to any of these questions to be President Trump.

Conclusion

That is your decision. I have laid before you these facts and information, I have told you my story and given you questions and food for thought. The rest is up to you.
